One Door Closes

Not unexpected, but I have today officially received my redundancy notice from my job after 7 years.  Bit about me – I have been in full time permanent employment since I was 17 years old and have only moved jobs when I wanted to move. First experience of a redundancy situation – not nice.

The original plan,  for me to join Neil, was work had agreed for me to take a 3 month sabbatical from the office for the boat launch and for me to try the lifestyle.  More about me – I don’t camp, can’t row, have never sailed (as in more than sat on a boat as a passenger),  I like my creature comforts, don’t like being cold, like 9 hours sleep a night, I’ve never been without a TV or mains electric and I love high heeled shoes.

So my 3 month try out has turned out to be a positive lifestyle change.  Do I mean positive?  Re-reading the above paragraph, it may take some time to come to that conclusion.   Not having the 3 month deadline will make a difference to my mind set as I always intended to return to work after the 3 months and then if my adventure with Neil was to continue; hand in my notice.  However, for me it was a massive hurdle to even contemplate leaving a full time permanent job, particularly one that I enjoyed (then).

So on with our plan to change our lifestyles; admittedly Neil is someway ahead of me on that but I’m catching up (bought a waterproof tub to hold the loo roll)!
