It’s all new to me … well will be soon

After a meeting at work Monday morning where it was confirmed that my last day in employment will be 19th June 2014, I packed up my little car  and headed over to Wroxall for the last time.  My car I have left with Mum.  As she said “I may of lost a daughter but I have gained a car” – not sure she feels hard done by though.

How does Landgirl Afloat feel to be nearly on board her new home of Gleda? I’ll tell you; excited, anticipatory and a little bit scared. Luckily the first two outweigh the other. I’ll let you read Neil’s posts on the physical move of the boat but I have to say even as the camera woman, it was heart pumping. I don’t watch sport as I can’t stand the anticipation so watching everything Neil owns (his possessions are inside) and my new home being lifted up by a bit of string (so it felt) was gut wrenching. There were some moments, when the battery had run out on the camera so I wasn’t required to film, where I could turn away and not look, but I did watch most of it. Neil seemed remarkably calm although I bet he wasn’t feeling that way inside.

Now down to the last couple of days before she actually goes on the water and we move in. All well real now. I checked out the shower room at the boatyard.  It has a hairdryer (good), a shower (naturally), a gap under the door for draughts! and a heater (also good). Not sure how getting to it will work though.  Do I get rowed across by Neil in my robe and crocs carrying my soap bag and towel? Do I just swim across in my cossie?  Not shower?  Mmmm. A few days or so before I need to try that one.  The hotel we are in for now has an ensuite 10 steps from the bed, no sea to cross and it is lovely and toasty warm with a flushing loo and running hot water.

All a bit daunting but as I said above, very excited.

Note to my Mum – I had just started to write this post before you text me to ask why I wasn’t blogging!
