A Short Update

Not much has been happening on the boat front from my side. Neil has been doing a bit, weather dependent. Check out his updates here.

I had a few more fabric samples but I’m still not 100% decided. I have costed the foam which will be just over £400 from our local fabric store if they cut the rectangular shapes or £325 if we take a full size sheet and then we cut it.

On-line I have found it for £150 cheaper incl delivery and cut into the separate rectangular shapes needed. We will still need to do the final shaping ourselves whichever option we go with. The on-line shop is much cheaper but not sure about the service/delivery. However, cost will probably be the overriding factor and I’ll check out reviews etc. The difference in cost will cover the cost of the fabric.

Interestingly the latest samples I received were the only ones I paid for, not much just 50p each plus £2 postage, but they were the most disappointing. Not much bigger than the size of a modern UK postage stamp and just stapled to the order sheet. OK for the colour but harder to get a feel for the fabric. I wasn’t going to bother to feedback to the company but they then contacted me with a “hope you’re happy with your samples, we see you haven’t ordered yet”. As they had contacted me, I gave some feedback, which they did acknowledge, fair play.

I’ve been running around for last minute gifts and wrapping Christmas presents that need to go up country, which is 90% of my gifts. I’m heading up at the weekend to catch up with friends and family. I hope Storm Darragh doesn’t delay my trip. It’s not looking good.

Had my first Christmas ‘do’ this week. Lunch on Monday with my Knit & Natter group – we had a fabulous meal at the Lewinnick in Newquay. The restaurant was lovely, our waiter a hoot and with great company. My next one is Friday lunch time with work followed by a number of planned get togethers next week including a day out at Blenheim. Don’t hold out much hope for my waistline!

I’ll give an update on my trip when I’m back.
