I may have mentioned it before but I do miss my garden. I missed it when we were on Gleda and I still miss it. I do have 3 potted herb plants next to the van but I do miss the garden we had in the cottage.
In May19’s issue of the BBC Gardeners World magazine there was an offer for 2 for 1 entry in over 400 gardens around the UK for a year. Needless to say I bought a copy. I gave the free seed packets to the ladies and knit and natter and the free gloves we will use in the truck when filling with fuel and this is all before I’ve looked at the magazine itself.
On the last day of April we went to Enys Gardens which is about a 5minute drive away. The first week of May is their big bluebell event week but according to the website the bluebells were 90% out and, as we have seasonal passes, we can visit as often as we like.
They are lovely gardens to walk around and I’m looking forward to going back in the next week or so to see the changes. It had already changed a lot since our visit about 3 weeks ago.
We did use the 2 for 1 card to go and see Bosvigo Gardens in Truro just a few miles up the road. “Created by the Artist owner with dazzling displays of vivid colour and plant harmonies from February to October. Spring bulbs and Hellebores, summer herbaceous borders, autumn finale of ‘firework’ colours.” It was a hidden gem and unexpected to find such an oasis in town.
With the card from the magazine I imagine we will visit quite a few places on our summer trip. There are gardens in all regions of the UK taking part and we are bound to be not far from one or other. Looking forward to using the card already in some more of the 23 places to visit in Cornwall. A bit disappointing that it doesn’t include The Lost Gardens of Heligan although I have been to Heligan many times at different times of year. Plenty of others to see. Here’s to a flowery summer.
